Part 2

Sunday 24 May 2015

The first game had been a bit of a lark, but now we faced Frinton on their own ground, and the win in the first game had given the team confidence and the desire for more.

Bury St Edmunds batted first and the experienced pair of Mike Comber and Sean Park got us off to a great start, the first six overs yielding 60 runs for the loss of only one wicket. After that the momentum could not be maintained and a total of 125 was less than hoped for.

Poor Don Logan, who could barely walk after fielding in the first match, gamely took to the field again.

Every time Frinton looked to have the game under control Bury managed to take a wicket to keep in the game. Frinton started to get desperate but Bury bowlers and fielders kept their nerve, and when the last Frinton batsman was run out from the penultimate ball Bury had gained a narrow victory.
