Another mixed week end of results

Bury St Edmunds travelled to Swardeston the 2023 Thurlow Nunn Premier League winners on Saturday, the home team won the toss and started like the proverbial train with captain Lewis Denmark throwing caution to the wind he scored 72 of 100 runs in just 33 deliveries by the 10th over this was a strange game Alistair Allchin in the 11th over took 3 wickets all top players Denmark for 72 Jordan Taylor (29) and former Bury player Callum Taylor (1) the next over Alex Cruickshank had Alfie Cooper bowled for 0 as the game took a dramatic change. Josh Cantrell came on to bowl his spin in the 19th over taking his first wicket by which time the runs had dried up as Cantrell took two further wickets including that of Saranga Rajaguru for 28 taking the score to 154.7 in the 25th over Ben Whittaker chipped in with a wicket before Cantrell finished the innings with the excellent figures of 5.13 off 6.3 overs. Allchin with 3.43 had made the break through.
This should have been a win for Bury St Edmunds going hard from the start has served them well for much of the season but not this time Alex Maynard (4) Nikethan Radhakrsihan (0) were both out caught and Jack Howland bowled by an excellent delivery from Adam Todd with the score at 6.3. The task became that much harder credit to Max Whittaker and Cantrell who took the score to 53 before Cantrell played on for 24 off Rajaguru. Tom Rash battled on with Whittaker who was out for 46, Allchin provided some resistance being 9th out for 10 on 131 but Rash who had played gamely was out for 27 off 47 deliveries as Bury fell 31 runs short.
Bury St Edmunds 2nd team ended their home season with a very good win hosting Haverhill, Bury scored 27 for the 1st wicket as James Sturgeon was out for 16 Alan Barker added 21 before opener Zyan Imam was out for 20 off 45 deliveries at 70.3 James McKinney added 10, Josh Owen 37 but it was Justin Bishop who proved the main stay with an innings of 53, Adam Kizis scored 10 as Sam Aldous (22) and Oliver Riddick (9) remained unbeaten in a total of 218.7 off the 45 overs. R.Davies taking 2.38.
Kizis took an early wicket after which Owen removed Davies for 29 Riddick returned 3.26 off 9 overs including Williams for 26 and Aldous 1.18 off 9 tight overs one wicket for Krishan Sinha before Kizis came back to wrap up the tail finishing with the excellent figures of 4.22.
Bury’s 3rd team visited Melton St Audrey’s batted first scoring 217.5 the main stay was Simon Aldous who opened the batting scoring a superb 88 Sam Harrison made 31 and brother Danny 12 with 12 not out from Hamidullah Kharoti.
The Melton openers effectively won the game scoring 139 for the first wicket Josh Bowyer top scoring with 77 helped by Ethan Banna (52) two wickets for Mark Jolly and one each for James Godden and Tom Wright as the home side reached 220.5.
On Sunday the final Hunts Bats fixture for the 2nd team at home to Hadleigh the visitors scored 268.8 with Loveject Singh scoring 122 and Varun Rohal 52 Zyan Imam taking 3.59 and Tom Wright 2.56.
Bury scored 194 all out with Ammad Hassan Fida scoring 52 and S.Raham 52.

Next week is the final games of the season and we ask that all players where possible make themselves available as we have 7 teams to field.
On Saturday the 1st team are at home to Saffron Walden the 2nd team are away to Copford, the 3rd team are at home to Worligworth and 4th team away to Lakenheath 2nds a fixture rearranged from May 4th when Tuddenham were short of players.
On Sunday Bury have two teams playing in the Suffolk Cup Finals at Woolpit and a home game for the 1st team against Castle Hedingham.
