A mixed weekend with 3 wins and 3 defeats

On Saturday Bury St Edmunds played Copdock in the East Anglian Premier League, the home team won the toss decided to bat with Nikethan Radhakrishan and Alex Maynard made a brisk start scoring 50 runs in 39 deliveries Maynard was first out for 16 with the score on 67. Radhakrishnan followed on 95 scoring 59 at a run a ball with 5 x 4 and 3 x 6.Archie Jones scored 12 before a middle order collapse Will Routledge batted well making 50 off 82 deliveries batting for 98 minutes. Alex Cruickshank scored 15 and Sean Park 25 but the final score of 205 was short of what was needed. Chris Swallow taking 3.25. Copdock made a slow start losing Nico Boje early caught Josh Cantrell bowled Tom Rash a second wicket on 48 gave the home team some hope but ex Bury player Alex Oxley batted well with Sam Arthurton, Oxley was out for 61 but Arthurton remained not out for an excellent 101 as the visitors won well.
Better news from the 2nd team away to Dunmow the home team batted first with Josh Owen taking the important wicket of Mel Hussain caught Henry Baldock for 4. Owen followed up with Joe Gallant caught James Sturgeon at 60.2. Hamidullah Kharoti made the significant break through with 3 wickets taking the score to 87.5 Henry Baldock took two wickets and Krishan Sinha a further two wickets including top scorer Paul Reid for 69, James McKinney took the final wicket in a final score of 234. A feature was the bowling of the young players Owen 2.18 Kharoti 3.32 Baldock 2.21 and Sinha 2.28.
Bury lost Zyan Imam early for 10 but it was Sturgeon (67) and Alan Barker (77) that transformed the game, the second wicket fell at 163 no middle order problems as McKinney (17) Owen (14) and Sam Aldous with 19 ensured a good win with 7 wickets down and 8 deliveries to spare.
Bury’s 3rd team missed out in their promotion push away to Mildenhall the home team scored 225 James Taylor scoring 77.
4 wickets for Danny Harrison and 2 wickets for Tom Wright. Disappointing batting had Bury all out for 90 Brad Bosman top scored with 20. Martin Taylor taking 5.41.
A close and enjoyable encounter on the Victory Ground’s second pitch against Woolpit’s 4th team Bury 4ths batted first with Simon and Evamar Aldous scoring 107 for the first wicket Evamar was out for an excellent 41 and her father for 58. Arlo Bhavsar made 16 Joe Nicoll 18 before Kevin Dobson scored an unbeaten 47 Woolpit scored 199 all out Kush Patel taking 3.56 and Eve Aldous 2.19 and two catches Bury used 7 bowlers with 6 of them taking wickets one each for Dillon Bhavsar, Atharva Modi, Joe and John Nicol.
On Sunday the 1st team were at home to Woolpit. Bury started in a very positive manner as Zyan Imam and Alex Maynard piled on the runs scoring 179 for the 1st wicket Zyan was out for 46 as Maynard went on to score 146, Jacob Meredith chipped in with 40 not out and Sam Aldous 34 in a total of 323.4. Woolpit gave the reply a very good go making 318.7 Ethan Comber scoring 78 Marcus Parker 85 and Sam Newton 63 two wickets each for James McKinney and Krishna Sinha and one for Meredith.
Bury’s 2nd team had roles reversed at Tuddenham the home team scored 303.7 with Ben Cross scoring 152 and Alex Wilkens 85 Simon Aldous taking 4.53. Bury made a good try against this big score S.Rahman making 76 Aldous 31 not out and Mark Jolly 23 in a total of 228.

Next week the 1st team are away to Swardeston, 2nd team at home to Haverhill, 3rd team away to Meton St Audry’s.
On Sunday the 2nd team have their final match at home to Hadleigh.
